Tata Steel has announced delays in its UK low-emission steel production project due to difficulties in obtaining reliable electricity access. The company had aimed to commence electric arc furnace (EAF) operations by late 2027 or early 2028 as part of its efforts to reduce carbon emissions in steelmaking. However, challenges related to securing sufficient and consistent electricity supply have pushed back the project timeline. This delay affects Tata Steel's strategy to transition towards greener steel manufacturing in the UK, reflecting broader challenges in infrastructure and energy availability for industrial decarbonization. Company had targeted starting EAF operations by late 2027 or early 2028.
