The Maharashtra government has entered into memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with prominent Indian companies such as Reliance, Adani, NTPC, and Bajaj Group to develop nuclear power projects totaling 25,400 MW. This ambitious plan aims to nearly triple India's existing operational nuclear power capacity of approximately 8,800 MW. The proposed investment for these projects is estimated at ₹6.5 lakh crore. This development marks a significant step in expanding India's nuclear energy infrastructure, contributing to the state's and the country's energy security and diversification efforts. Reliance, Adani, NTPC and Bajaj Group outline a ₹6.5 lakh crore investment plan that would create nuclear capacity nearly three times India’s current operational fleet of about 8,800 MW operational nuclear power generation capacity.
